Amish Paradise

A reader who noted some of my posts on the failure of the church to fulfill its social obligations, and government stepping in to fill the void, kindly sent me the link below explaining how at least one Christian subgroup, the Amish, are properly fulfilling that role. Maybe there's something to be said for no electricity.

  1. Yep. The Beachy Amish (Amish-Mennonite) have the same setup. It isn't quite like insurance, though, but it can have the same demoralizing effects. That isn't usually a problem except with people who already have a spiritual problem. There is also building insurance or whatever it is other people get and auto "insurance". We have frolics to help each other.
We also help out the people not in our group and have a special fund for just that.
